Verizon Wireless To Deploy Java Platform Micro Edition

Today at the JavaOne conference, Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam announced that the company is making a strategic shift and will begin to deploy Java Platform Micro Edition-based services in its network and offer Java-based services and applications to its subscribers. In July, Verizon Wireless will hold an open development conference. It will also open up its network to allow developers to access network-based information that can be used by end-user applications, such as presence information. Verizon Wireless will offer both BREW and Java services side-by-side.
